Major paradigm shifts born of desperation can feel like your
very being is splintering apart. In a sense, that can be true. When concepts
thought to be absolute truth are shattered, it can seem like a domino effect of
doubt, fear, and confusion. Doubts of who you are, what you believe, what
ethics and morals you hold for yourself-regardless of social expectations. The process of the shift; those doubts, fears,
and questions, can be a crucible in which changes that propel us forward are
forged.
There is a moment in the heart of the process when you are
face to face with yourself. That is the moment that you have the chance to
decide who you want to be when you emerge from this experience. You can look
closely at the person you see there, or you can run away pretending it was a
bad dream – but you will always remember who you saw there, be it with reverence
or revulsion.
When was the last time you questioned what you hold as
sacred truths? How do you see reality? Is it a hard truth, or a perspective
concept that is in continuous flux? What is a view or belief that you once held,
but hold no longer and why did it change?
