Hard Freeze

"Hard Freeze"
Sometimes things are safest when encased in a fortress of ice. Frozen in time, frozen in space, frozen within our own hearts and souls.

Heart of the Crucible

Heart of the Crucible

cru·ci·ble

ˈkro͞osəb(ə)l/

noun

noun: crucible; plural noun: crucibles

  1. a ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures.
    • a place or occasion of severe test or trial.

"the crucible of combat"

    • a place or situation in which different elements interact to produce something new.

"the crucible of the new Romantic movement"

Major paradigm shifts born of desperation can feel like your very being is splintering apart. In a sense, that can be true. When concepts thought to be absolute truth are shattered, it can seem like a domino effect of doubt, fear, and confusion. Doubts of who you are, what you believe, what ethics and morals you hold for yourself-regardless of social expectations.  The process of the shift; those doubts, fears, and questions, can be a crucible in which changes that propel us forward are forged.

There is a moment in the heart of the process when you are face to face with yourself. That is the moment that you have the chance to decide who you want to be when you emerge from this experience. You can look closely at the person you see there, or you can run away pretending it was a bad dream – but you will always remember who you saw there, be it with reverence or revulsion.

When was the last time you questioned what you hold as sacred truths? How do you see reality? Is it a hard truth, or a perspective concept that is in continuous flux? What is a view or belief that you once held, but hold no longer and why did it change?

Reclamation

Reclamation
There will come a time when all of our great buildings and roads are nothing more than a vague imprint within the memory of the elements. Celebrate the impermanence of it all, practice appreciation.

I hate marketing

Fire and Ice
So I've been reading all this different stuff about how to sell art. The most prevalent advice seems to be to tell be about yourself. People apparently buy art more because they like the artist than because they like the art itself. Okay, strange, but okay. Of course, that brings me to the issue of I don't even like myself very much most of the time-how in the hell am I supposed to get random strangers (with the money to buy art) to like me? What parts to I reveal and what parts do I hide? Decisions decisions. Those things really suck. I'm a walking contradiction, and ultimately, I'd rather let my art speak for itself. I guess that it's not a viable marketing strategy though.

Series in progress

The Fortress Melts
This is a second sneak peek into a yet unnamed series that is currently in progress. I'm trying to dust the cobwebs off of my brains writing center in order to create some type of companion stories to complement the pictures. I have been largely unsuccessful in doing this though, because my brain would rather randomly create cat-centric cover songs  than do anything remotely close to what I'm telling it to do. **Psycho kitty, Qu'est-ce que meow, chew chew chew, he's gonna chew on you ** I vaguely recall being a writer at one point in time, so theoretically I should be capable of this, yes?
